Cream Welsh Nursing Shawl 10890

A beautiful soft cream Welsh Nursing shawl .

Has a numbers of well executed darns - it is very rare to find a historic piece without any damage .  A lovely historic Welsh Textile.  To wear ,drape or keep.

The big shawl was in demand for centuries in the steep sided valleys of Wales as a very practical way of carrying a baby, keeping mother warm and leaving both hands free. Prams certainly  weren't practical in such hilly areas ( even if you could afford one ) and so the siol magi had for centuries provided a solution to many of the problems of valley mothers.
