A lovely example of a Late Victorian faux patchwork. The Victorians loved detailed patchwork and were also experts in detailed fabric printing - combine the two and you get this intriguing pretend patchwork fabric. The earlier print designs stuck closely to pieced design but as time went by patterns were embellished to include fancier fabrics and printed 'stitching', both can be seen on this beautiful quilt.
This quilt is a simple strippy quilt featuring the same fabric in two different colourways, the reverse a pale citrus yellow. Traditional Welsh stitching includes a large central coin with large leaves , spirals and a large leaf border.
Worthy of any collection but still very usable, Jen has a number of these faux patchwork quilts in her collection which have been diplayed in a number of exhibitions alonside their intersting history.
Has some wear to one end hence the wonderful price !
