This Indigo and cream double weave appears to be mix of both cotton and wool

The cream is a thick cotton thread whilst the indigo is a fine wool.

We do not know the history of this blanket but do know that  double weaves were made  across many traditions  notably in Europe were they were often wool and also in the USA were they were predominantly cotton. There are wonderful examples of double weaves in museums  across these areas. Closer to Home it is possible to see examples of early  American double weaves at The American Museum in Britain , Claverton Manor ,Bath
